Pollination, 1968

Lee Krasner

Dallas Museum of Art

An American abstract expressionist painter, Lee Krasner was the only female painter associated with the first generation of the New York school. She was married to Jackson Pollock, and although they influenced one another, Krasner took her own path in creating art. In Pollination, a foliate scheme of sensuous biotic forms, hard lines, and highly keyed colors creates a dynamic, organic rhythm, revealing Krasner’s belief that we are “part of nature, not separate from it.”
